😃 HAPPY WORLD LAUGHTER DAY 😃

Thank you, Annie for facilitating the laughter session at Kapara! There’s nothing more heartwarming than seeing everyone happy and full of joy!

📷 Pat, Yvonne, Garry and Denis enjoying a ‘laughing out loud’ moment with Annie at KaparaMy first of a few posts today on World Laughter Day.
Last week I was invited to run a laughter session for residents of ACH Group’s Kapara Residential Care Home in Glenelg South. I entered the building with a little trepidation as I haven't been there since my mum's last few days there in 2017. But what was I worried about?! I was greeted by a room of 20+ people in a circle all keen to hear more about laughter yoga. What was also special is that Rose and Yvonne were there as my helpful assistants. They know my Giggle Game well as they've both been part of a group who've visited pre-schoolers at St Peter's Woodlands ELC for the past 18 months to play the Giggle Game as part of their intergenerational program.
The 30min session at Kapara was fun and inclusive for all - we blew bubbles, stretched, clapped, threw our arms in the air with positive affirmations and, of course we laughed! We also shared stories about what has made us 'grumble' this week and released the stress and big emotions through laughter and a bit of stomping! We did some mindful breathing and even shared stories about what has made us happy this week, which included a resident's son winning a canoe championship and one man just wanted to celebrate that he'd had his hair cut! The oldest participant (top right) is 99 and all the residents and staff left with big smiles on their faces and, as always, I was filled with joy.
Where can you find some laughter in your day today?
