Carmel reflects on 18 years at Milpara 💇

On the afternoon of Friday 31 January, hairdresser Carmel Clemente farewelled her final customer, Rosina, from her salon chair and headed into a well-deserved retirement.

Carmel has been the hairdresser at ACH Group ’s Milpara Residential Care Home for the past 18 years – but has been a hairdresser across South Australia for 64 years.
The now 80-year-old estimates that she had 20 customers a week for the past 18 years and that Rosina would be close to her 19,000th client.

Carmel said that she had loved hairdressing at Milpara so much that she had put off retirement multiple times.

“I’ve loved every second of my 18 years here,” she said.

“Genuinely, the residents made it, and I loved hearing their stories and getting to know them – it has been so rewarding.”

About 50 residents and staff from Milpara gathered for afternoon tea to farewell and thank Carmel.

Best of luck in retirement Carmel – you will be missed.
