Celebrating Diwali at ACH Group

Celebrating Diwali – sharing light, culture and connection

On 8 November, millions of people around the world will celebrate Diwali, the annual festival of lights that brings families and friends together for prayer and festivities, symbolising the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

With more than 1,200 ACH Group employees originating from countries that celebrate Diwali, the festival holds special meaning for many across our workforce.

This year, ACH Group is marking the occasion with events held across residential care homes and office locations. Residents and workforce have shared in lamp-lighting ceremonies, festive food, colourful decorations, traditional dress and dance.

For Vanshika, Application Portfolio Lead at ACH Group, Diwali is also a time for reflection and fresh beginnings.

“Before Diwali, we clean our homes, clear out the clutter and make space for a fresh beginning. I think we can extend that tradition to our minds and hearts by considering what we can learn from and what we can let go of.

“Once we have made that space, the question becomes what we choose to fill it with: a little more kindness, patience, gratitude and openness to one another. The light we bring can be as simple as making someone feel seen, supported and welcome.”

Celebrating Diwali at ACH Group also creates an opportunity to share traditions and learn more about the cultures of colleagues across the organisation.

Celebrating Diwali at ACH Group also creates an opportunity to share traditions and learn more about the cultures of colleagues across the organisation.

“Celebrating Diwali at ACH Group gives me a sense of belonging,” Vanshika said. “There is something special about sharing a tradition close to your heart and seeing your colleagues take the time to understand what it means to you.

“For me, the spirit of Diwali continues in how we treat each other afterwards, with a little more understanding, room for fresh starts, and kindness that makes someone’s day brighter.”

Diwali is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our workforce and the experiences, cultures and traditions that enrich our community.
