For Tayla, aged care works

ACH Group was Tayla’s first job out of university and five years later she is still loves coming to work.

“I wasn’t even going to apply for a job with ACH Group, I just got a random text message from a friend out of the blue.

“I really love that friend,” she laughed.

She said her love for the job was two-fold, no day is ever the same and the workplace culture at ACH Group.

“Yesterday, I did a knitting assessment with a lady who wanted to keep quilting and we are looking at getting her different grips or even weighted needles to support her to do that,” she said.

“I also helped a gentleman to better configure his recliner and did a engagement assessment for a customer to support them participate in activities and pursue their own hobbies.

“Today will be completely different again. The reason the days are so different is because what we do is driven by residents wants and needs and every person is unique.”

Tayla also shared how pleased she was that her experience entering the workforce has been so positive.

“The support and friendliness of the team makes it so easy to come to work every day,” she said.

“You always have the feeling that you are supported and if you ever need support or guidance, you always feel as though you are actively encouraged to ask.

“The culture has been the driving force in me wanting to stay with ACH Group.”

Tayla said she also benefitted greatly from an new graduate program that channels recent graduates into the workforce with additional support and lower numbers of customers.

“It was really like an advanced placement, and it allowed me the extra time and support to feel like I had my feet underneath me,” she said.

“The really cool thing now is that I have students of my own come through to learn from me and I feel like I get to pay that forward.”
