As every year, Anzac Day was marked with services across the ACH Group Community to pay respect.
🌹 At Kapara, a moving Anzac Day service was facilitated by Major Reno Elms from the Salvation Army. Reno has been volunteering at Kapara for the last eighteen years. As noted by Michelle, Community Connector Lead, this year had the biggest turnout, with over sixty residents and family members in attendance.
🌹 At Highercombe, Sam proudly read a reflective poem during the Anzac Day service, while other residents, including veterans Stephen and Fred, also reflected on the importance of showing respect.
🌹 It was a drizzly and cold morning for the dawn service at McLaren Vale Memorial Park, but Karen, Group Planner at Colton Court, reflected that it was wonderful and emotional, as always.
🌹 At West Park, Goolwa RSL members facilitated the Anzac Day service for residents and families. Wreath-making and baking Anzac biscuits were also part of the activities to commemorate Anzac Day.
Thank you to all who joined this important commemoration across ACH Group.

As mentioned in the article, Sam composed a poem to mark the occasion. Anzac Day The darkening skies cast gloom all around With the crack of the shells all around Where the seas and the wounded Lie in the mud and the soil. Among the carnage and spent ammunition Lie those who suffered harm Young men and old who lie still In the wrath of the storm Peace was installed on their land Let’s not forget the leaders resolved Let us remember our dead. But the years have rolled on And our memories fade Wards arise once again There are those whom we praise for their valour. We remember the sacrifice made Of the dead and the wounded row on row In the fields that are silent Where the red poppies grow!! We say – please!! Let us not forget. By Sam, ACH Group Highercombe
That is a great poem Sam. Well done 👏👏👏👏
