Students and older South Australians have shown creativity, and friendship thrive at any age, working together to prepare artwork for this month’s South Australian Living Arts Festival (SALA). For the past two months, year 6 students from St Peter’s Woodlands joined with residents from ACH Group’s Kapara Residential Care Home to create a series of artworks for exhibition during SALA.

Older South Australians living in aged care have an important role to play in helping governments and policy makers understand the communities of tomorrow. For ACH Group, residents participating in the Census is more than completing a form – with older South Australians having a significant role in informing decisions that shape ageing well services, infrastructure and community connection.

Three years ago, Fay Tozer moved into her new home. The residential care team supporting her know much more than her daily routines. They know she likes to stay active and contribute to her community. Helping to welcome new residents and organising social events gives Fay a sense of purpose and belonging. For Fay, these moments are everything.

Today, 7 August, is Aged Care Employee Day, a national day of thanks for Australia’s aged care workforce.  To mark the day, ACH Group’s executive leaders will join teams to personally thank and recognise the positive difference they make in the lives of older South Australians.  ACH Group CEO Linda Feldt said Aged Care Employee Day was an important opportunity to recognise employees’ care and commitment. 

Valmai Janssan’s family says one of the first things people notice about the 90-year-old is that her hands never stop moving. The prolific artist is set to have her abstract acrylic painting ‘Conchita’ printed and plastered all over metropolitan Adelaide after winning ACH Group’s SALA competition. Her work was chosen from hundreds of entries to be the hero image for ACH Group’s upcoming SALA exhibitions.

ACH Group has secured a $17.6 million Federal Government grant to support the construction of its 150-bed residential care home at Dover Gardens. The funding was announced on 22 July by Minister for Health and Ageing, Hon. Mark Butler MP, and Minister for Aged Care and Seniors, Hon. Sam Rae MP, through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program.
