High-quality food that nourishes the mind and body is a key pillar of living a good life. At ACH Group, this starts with principles of informed decision-making, meal enjoyment, and a variety of choice.
One way ACH Group translates complex nutrition themes into practical advice is through our recently developed Nutrition Guides.
The Nutrition Guides form an important part of our commitment to person-centered care, bringing together evidence-based dietary advice and individual choice; helping residents, families and staff understand food options in the context of personal preferences, health needs and goals.
Covering topics from high energy and high protein diets to nutrition support for specific health conditions, the guides show how everyday food choices can support residents’ preferences, needs and overall wellbeing. By making nutrition advice easier to understand and act on, they are helping residents make informed choices that support their health, enjoyment and quality of life.
The impact of this work was recognised beyond ACH Group, with Dietitian Lead Michael Dobie receiving national industry recognition in the Hospitality in Health Excellence Awards for his contribution to improving nutrition outcomes and supporting person-centered care.
“The dining experience starts well before someone sits down to eat, with important precursors being the empowerment of knowledge and freedom of choice,” Michael said.
Our nutrition guides are more than just sharing dietary advice – they’re designed to support residents in having an active role in making the best choices that shape their wellbeing. “The Nutrition Guides give residents the information and options to choose their own nutritional journey,” Michael said.
“Person-centered care is at the heart of this initiative. The guides help our teams collaborate with residents so we can align what we offer with their goals, preferences and choices,” Michael said.
