Leading South Australian not-for-profit full service aged care provider ACH Group will today open a new $5 million advanced health and wellbeing hub at Rostrevor.
Health Studio Rostrevor represents a major milestone and investment in the health and wellbeing of older South Australians in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs.
The health studio includes a gym equipped with state-of-the-art HUR exercise equipment and a custom-built space for group exercise classes designed to meet the needs of older people.
It will also act as an allied health hub providing physiotherapy, exercise physiology, podiatry, occupational therapy, dietetics, and remedial message. Adjacent to the health studio is an office space for
ACH Group’s community services teams who support local older South Australians to live well in their own homes.
ACH Group Board Chair Imelda Lynch said Health Studio Rostrevor forms a strong part of our connected community’s strategy and is a tangible way we are offering older South Australians a way to stay healthy, connect and remain within their community.
“We know that strong social connection and good health and wellbeing are two of the most important elements of maintaining a high quality of life,” she said.
“Customers attend our health studios for a range of reasons from recovering after an illness to keeping fit to play with their grandchildren.
ACH Group Chief Executive Officer Linda Feldt said offering access to health studios was a key point of difference from other aged care providers.
I’m thrilled to see this become a place where people can come together, improve their fitness and mobility, and truly enjoy themselves. It’s already generating excitement within the local community, and that’s exactly what we hoped to achieve.”
Betty Vowles who has been attending ACH Group health studio classes for more than a decade, estimates she has attended nearly 1500 classes.
At 90, she proudly said: “I still drive, I still go on social trips, and I have my friends from my classes, none of that would have been possible without the health studio and ACH Group.”
“As I approach 91, prioritising my health and fitness has meant I’ve been able to keep doing the things that make my life great,” she said.
The new Health Studio at Rostrevor complements ACH Group’s two other health studios in Glenelg and Christie Downs.
