A career in aged care offers a strong employment outlook and a deep sense of purpose

Three years ago, Fay Tozer moved into her new home. The residential care team supporting her know much more than her daily routines. They know she likes to stay active and contribute to her community. Helping to welcome new residents and organising social events gives Fay a sense of purpose and belonging. For Fay, these moments are everything.
Care is never the work of one person. It is shaped by many. Whether working directly with customers or supporting behind the scenes, every role contributes to building relationships, understanding what matters to each person, and creating a sense of belonging.
At a time when artificial intelligence is transforming industries and many Australians are questioning the future of work, aged care offers something different. It is deeply human, grounded in making connections, building trust, and understanding what is important for every person in our care.
Across Australia, more than 1.5 million older people rely on aged care services. Demand is growing, with a projected shortfall of up to 400,000 workers by 2050.
This is not just a workforce challenge. It is an opportunity.
For people looking for secure, meaningful careers, aged care offers purpose and variety. As technology reshapes work, the value of roles built on empathy, relationships and human connection will only grow.
At ACH Group, we are focused on building that future workforce. We invest in skills, create pathways across roles, and support people to grow careers with purpose. We embrace technology where it strengthens care, while ensuring that people remain at the centre of everything we do.
We recently marked Aged Care Employee Day on August 7, a time to pause and say thank you to the people who care for older Australians every day.
At ACH Group, I see that extraordinary care. I offer a heartfelt thank you to our 1900 employees for the compassion, professionalism and humanity they bring to their work. But recognition alone is not enough. We must also encourage more people to see aged care as a career of choice.
If you are looking for work that truly matters, where your contribution is felt every day, there has never been a better time to choose aged care.
At ACH Group, we see the impact our people make and know the future of care depends on those who choose to be part of it.
