Occupational Therapist Oscar Chan didn’t want his first job to be just any job; he wanted it to be the right job.
In his final year at University of South Australia, Oscar prioritised attending as many career expos as he could to get a real understanding of the jobs market in South Australia.
“What stood out to me when I came across ACH Group at the careers expo was that they weren’t focused solely on pay rates or shift structures, but they were sharing real stories about the impact of the work,” he said.
“Being able to speak directly with someone who was a frontline worker gave me real insight into what the role involved and the values that drove that work.”
“For me, ACH Group stood out because the work was purposeful and values led rather than transactional.”
Oscar completed his degree from University of South Australia in November and began working as an Occupational Therapist with ACH Group in February 2026.
“One of the standout elements of ACH Group was their New Graduate Program which felt like a genuine investment in my transition from a full-time student to a full-time professional,” he said.
“Through the graduate program I get weekly supervision from both a clinical lead and a team leader, along with mentoring sessions and group learning opportunities.
“This support has helped me build my confidence bit by bit without feeling overwhelmed.”
Oscar said prioritising attendance at career expos has been a worthwhile investment that had paid off.
Executive Manager of People, Culture and Safety, Cher Lopresti said “ACH Group has a strong track record of connecting with emerging talent through career expos and supporting them to build rewarding careers.”
“The expo offers opportunity to chat to our recruitment team, learn about roles and see where a career in aged care can take them.
“ACH Group has over 200 unique roles across care, allied health, nursing, hospitality, business and administration.”
ACH Group will be attending the Careers and Employment Expo on May 7-9 at the Adelaide Showgrounds, at stall 182.
