ACH Group has secured a $17.6 million Federal Government grant to support the construction of its 150-bed residential care home at Dover Gardens.
The funding was announced on 22 July by Minister for Health and Ageing, Hon. Mark Butler MP, and Minister for Aged Care and Seniors, Hon. Sam Rae MP, through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program.
ACH Group CEO Linda Feldt welcomed the funding and said the proposed residential care home at Dover Gardens would help meet growing demand for residential aged care.
“Demand for contemporary residential aged care continues to grow across Adelaide’s southern suburbs, and this development will provide more choice for older people and their families at a time when quality care is needed more than ever.” she said.
“Our new home at Dover Gardens will help meet growing demand for residential care and be home to 150 older people, supporting them to receive the care they need while remaining connected to their local community and the people who matter most to them.”
The Dover Gardens home has been purposefully designed as a community of 10 small homes, each accommodating 15 residents.
“We have seen the positive outcomes of the small home model in other ACH Group residential care homes and know it creates familiar environments where residents feel comfortable and connected, while enabling our care teams to build meaningful relationships and deliver more personalised care,” Ms Feldt said.
“This development brings to life ACH Group’s purpose of supporting good lives for older people. By combining contemporary design, technology and aged care best practice, we are creating homes where people can continue to live with choice, independence and connection, and where families can feel confident in the care and support being provided.”
Construction of the Dover Gardens care home is expected to begin in late 2026 on vacant land on Folkestone Road, the former address of the Dover Gardens Primary School. The development is estimated at $70 million.
