Nurses training at ACH Group

Collaborative wound care education elevates nursing practice at ACH Group

ACH Group has marked a significant milestone in clinical education, with 20 Registered Nurses recently completing a specialised wound care training day.

Developed in collaboration with global medical technology leader Smith & Nephew and ACH Group’s Clinical Governance and Quality team, the training is part of a broader initiative to enhance clinical excellence across the organisation.

Amanda Bennett, General Manager Clinical Governance & Quality at ACH Group, said the program is designed to empower nurses with the skills and confidence to manage complex wounds.

“This training elevates the standard of nursing care and supports improved outcomes for our customers and residents,” Ms Bennett said.

The session, led by Fiona Gardiner, Clinical Development Manager at Smith & Nephew, featured real-world case studies and best-practice guidelines. Topics included comprehensive wound assessment, wound classification, and product selection for optimal care.

The training was shaped by direct input from ACH Group nurses, ensuring it addressed their specific learning needs. It also forms part of ACH Group’s Community of Practice initiative, where Registered Nurses from each residential care home meet regularly to share knowledge and develop expertise.

With monthly sessions planned, participating nurses are on the path to becoming “Wound Champions”, providing expert support across residential and community settings.
