ACH Group is delighted to announce Barbara Tainsh as a nominee for 2026 HESTA Nurse of the Year.

Barbara has been nominated for her sector leading work to better identify and recognise signs of frailty before it escalates into a serious health event.

With more than three decades in nursing, Barbara Tainsh has played a pivotal role in shaping contemporary aged care nursing. Beginning her career on the frontline, she has built an outstanding legacy of clinical leadership and now is in a leadership position as the Head of Community Services & Nursing at ACH Group.

Under Barbara’s leadership, ACH Group partnered with Flinders University on a codesigned initiative that significantly strengthened the capability of both clinical and non-clinical staff to recognise early signs of frailty and pre-frailty. This work has had a meaningful impact on early intervention, care quality and it significantly strengthened the capability of both clinical and nonclinical staff to recognise early signs of frailty and prefrailty.

Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara is widely respected and deeply valued not only in ACH Group but across the aged care sector.

Congratulations on your nomination Barbara.
