Frequently asked questions about volunteering
The minimum age to volunteer with ACH Group is 16 years old. Volunteers under 18 will require parental consent.
A student placement is a formal learning experience set up with ACH Group by a registered training provider (RTO) or University. Students can practice what they’re studying with guidance from ACH Group professionals. It involves applying academic knowledge in a practical setting and usually requires formal agreements, supervision, and assessments.
Volunteering is when you choose to help out and give your time without pay or with school requirements. It’s more flexible and focused on giving back.
Volunteering can be for as little as an hour a fortnight to couple of hours a week or more. Some programs run for short set time periods and others are on-going.
ACH Group understands that volunteering needs to fit comfortably with other family and life commitments, and we offer a range of flexible options so that your volunteer work is a positive and enjoyable experience.
ACH Group welcomes volunteers with CentreLink requirements.
All ACH Group volunteers are registered, screened for National Police Clearance, and where required SA Department of Human Services Clearance, trained, and undergo on site induction. Volunteers driving fleet vehicles are required to provide current driver’s licence, and car registration, insurance and service records if using their own vehicle.
Reimbursement is provided to eligible volunteers for petrol costs and/or any approved out of pocket expenses.

Potential volunteers are interviewed to assess the best match of their skills, experience, interests, and availability with current volunteer vacancies.
