Important Payroll Cycle Change

Effective 1 November 2024

We are changing the pay cycle from 1 November.

ACH Group is changing its payroll cycle so we can be more accurate and efficient, and reduce errors, especially around public holidays.

Our payroll cycle will transition from a fortnightly Wednesday-Tuesday schedule to a fortnightly Monday-Sunday schedule.

What does this mean for everyone?

  • Expect one shorter payroll cycle – but you can choose to get paid in advance.
  • To make this transition, one payroll cycle will be just 12 days (Wednesday 16 October to Sunday 27 October).
  • If this change will cause personal financial hardship, you can choose to access a 14 day pay for this cycle, receiving payment in advance for the Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October if you would normally work on those days.
  • Payment for Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October will also be included in the following new pay cycle – in effect paying you twice for these days.
  • We have visualised the changes in the below graphic.

Yes, I’d like to advance my pay.

If you would like to advance your pay for Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October, you can complete an online form in Dayforce.

To access the form, log into Dayforce and navigate to ‘Forms’ in your favourites bar. Select the ‘Payroll Cycle Change’ form under the Personal Forms section. Open the form and complete on or before Friday 18 October.

Follow the step-by-step instructions.

If you chose the option of accessing a 14 day pay during the transition time, the additional payment for these days will be automatically repaid from your future 17 pay periods.

If you leave ACH Group before you’ve paid back everything you owe, the remaining amount you owe will be deducted from your final pay.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We’ve shared answers to some common questions about these changes. If you have a question that is not answered below, please email [email protected] and we will get back to you.

What is changing?

We are changing the payroll cycle from Wednesday-Tuesday to Monday-Sunday, effective 1 November, 2024.

Can I advance my pay if I’m casually employed?

Yes. If you are casually employed, you can advance your pay for the hours you work on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October.

What is the cut-off day to notify Payroll?

Please tell us on or by Friday 18 October, as this is the cut-off date.

Am I getting paid less for the hours I’ve worked?

No – you are not getting paid less. The payroll cycle transition period covers the hours you worked across Wednesday 16 to Sunday 27 October.

Will our usual payday change?

No, there will be no change to the day everyone usually gets paid.

How does the new payroll cycle affect timesheets and leave form submissions?

Timesheets: Previously this all needed to be completed on Wednesday mornings of the pay week – now this will be close of business (COB) on the Monday, the first day of the new pay cycle.

Leave: All leave applications need to be submitted by 11pm on the Sunday.

Why is this change happening?

This change will provide more time for payroll approvals, reduce errors, and improve payroll processing on public holidays.

How does it affect my salary packaging?

For most employees your salary packaging arrangements will not be impacted. For those whose earnings will fall below their current salary packing arrangements, the maximum amount available to be sent to AccessPay will be processed.

If you believe this will have an impact on you please contact Access Pay on 1300 133 697 to discuss potential adjustments

What are the benefits of this change?

The new cycle provides better control, reduces pressure on teams and reduces the risk of errors around public holiday periods.

What happens if I choose not to advance my pay?

You will be paid in accordance with a 12 day pay cycle which will cover the hours you worked from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 27 October.

What financial impact does it have on me?

You need to seek alternate advice for how this will impact you financially.
