Today, the Australian Government has introduced changes to the aged care system to make it easier and fairer for older people to access.
Home Care packages – a Government funded package of coordinated services to support people living in their own home – will now be allocated directly to the customer, rather than an approved aged care provider. This gives customers the ability to choose their own service provider and, importantly, continue to make their own choices in how they wish to be supported. This change is welcomed by ACH Group, as it has long been our belief that older people should have maximum choice and control over the services available that support them to live a good life.
The other major change is that Home Care packages will no longer be allocated on a regional basis, and instead people wanting to access a Home Care package will join a national queue and be able to access a package based on their needs, not based on where they live.
